Cheap, mass-produced, unoriginal, tacky, broken, and discarded. Each material is a discarded consumer good found on the residential streets of New York City. These value-less things enter the studio where I toy with taste, function, and convention creating a visual language from turning value into a game. I aggressively manipulate and push my materials to go against their contrived nature but still remain themselves.
My materials do not pretend to be anything that they are not; they are simply misbehaving.
